Report: Health systems in Janesville, Rockford to merge
Mercy Health System in Janesville and Rockford Health System in Rockford, Illinois, will merge early next year, according to a release from the two health systems.
The merger was approved by the organization’s boards last week and announced Monday.
According to the release, the new organization will have 7,500 employees, 80 facilities and more than $1 billion in annual net revenue.
The merged operation will be known as Interstate Alliance and the names of the two organizations will not change, according to the release. Each of the two systems is among the largest private employers in its respective community.
A nine-member board of directors will guide the organization’s operation, according to the release. The board will include Mercy Health System’s president and CEO, four representatives from Rockford Health System and for representatives from Mercy Health System.
The merger still has to be approved through state regulators.
Mercy has hospitals in Janesville, Walworth and Harvard, Illinois.
