Repeat impaired driver found asleep at wheel of running car, police say
MADISON, Wis. — A driver found asleep behind the wheel on Madison’s east side is facing a repeat impaired driving charge this week, police said.
Madison police said officers were sent to Commercial Avenue and Nakoosa Trail at 2:08 a.m. for a report of a car stopped in the roadway.
The car, which was running, was in the left turn lane from Commercial Avenue onto Nakoosa. Its lights and flashers were on.
An officer opened the driver’s door, turned the car off and awakened the driver, identified as 41-year-old Eugene O. Trimble, of Madison.
He was arrested on suspicion of fifth-offense driving while impaired.
