A Reedsburg man was indicted on federal charges for six robberies of Madison-area businesses last fall, according to a release.

Keith Gary, 46, was charged Wednesday with six robberies and one attempted robbery, two counts of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, officials said.

Gray was indicted on the felon in possession charge Dec. 10.

The indictment alleges that he attempted to rob the McDonald’s on West Broadway Oct. 29, and that he robbed six other businesses between Sept. 19 and Oct. 29.

The indictment also alleges that during the Sept. 18 and 21 robberies, Gary displayed a firearm. He also allegedly had a .32-caliber revolver and ammunition during the Nov. 13 robbery.

If convicted, Gary faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison on each robbery count, 10 years for the felon in possession count and a mandatory penalty of seven years for one brandishing a firearm count, according to the release. The sentences would be served after any penalty imposed for the Sept. 18 robbery and a mandatory penalty of 25 years for the second brandishing a firearm count. The sentences would be consecutive to any penalty imposed for the first brandishing a firearm count and any penalty imposed for the Sept. 12 robbery.
