Record-breaking year for Dane County Regional Airport
Nearly 2 million passengers passed through airport
MADISON, Wis. — Nearly 2 million passengers flew into or out of the Dane County Regional Airport in 2016, the most passengers the airport has seen in a calendar year, officials said in a news release.
A total of 929,845 passengers flew out of the airport in 2016, and a total of 1,841,809 flew into or out of the airport.
Airport officials said 2016’s record-breaking passenger traffic was 9.8 percent higher than 2015.
The airport’s second best year was in 2004, when 847,341 passengers boarded an outgoing flight.
Officials said the airport’s restaurants, gift shops and parking facilities also saw a significant increase in business last year.
More than 90 flights come into or depart from Dane County Regional Airport each day, including nonstops to and from Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit and New York.
