Raymond L Fiske
Raymond L. Fiske, age 83 of New Lisbon, passed away Friday February 10, 2017.
Ray was born on August 31, 1933 in the township of Lindina near Mauston Wisconsin. He was the son of Louis and Olga (Miller) Fiske. He attended Lindina country school through 8th grade, then worked at the stockyards and at various farms in the Mauston area. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954, served in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1956.
Ray continued to work at various farm jobs, hauled milk, worked for the city of Mauston,Olin Matheson Badger Ammunition Plant, and Chrysler Corporation in Belvidere, IL. He enjoyed horses, hunting, and woodworking. He loved country music, his all-time favorite song was the Great Speckled Bird by Roy Acuff. He loved playing cards. Euchre was his game of choice. He had a special place in his heart for his beagle Sugar Ray. Eating was a priority at Ray’s house and breakfast was a must. He greeted friends and family with hugs. His immediate family always received a hug and a kiss and don’t you ever forget to say I love you. Family was everything. He always said if you had your faith and family you had it all.
Ray is survived by his wife, Linda (Heineman) of thirty seven years. One sister Dorothy (Charles) Clark. Three children Ray Jr. of Baraboo, Diane of Baraboo, and Dawn (Larry) of Mauston. Six grandchildren Sarah, Meggan (Nick), Jason (Jackie), Chad (Megan), Brad (Polly), and Ryan. Three great grandchildren Carter, Brayden, and Lincoln. Stepchildren Ervin, Larry, Janice (Ken), Linda (Chuck), Jim (Melissa), Dennis (Bonnie), Nassrian (Chris), Rade (Penny), Verica (Dave), many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis, infant sister Margaret, and mother Olga. Step fathers Charlie Smith and Orville Newkirk, and three stepchildren Ralph, Judy, and Donna.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mile Bluff Medical Center and Heritage Manor for the care they gave Ray. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Crandall Funeral Home, Mauston, where friends may call on Thursday, February 16th from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm and on Friday from 1:00 pm until time of service. Burial will be at the Mauston Cemetery with military honors.
