Ransom’s grand slam gives Brewers win
Braun hits two more homers
MILWAUKEE — Cody Ransom hit his first career grand slam with two outs in the eighth inning as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-7 at Miller Park Friday night.
Ryan Braun hit two homers and drove in three runs. Braun now has 26 home runs on the season. It was the 16th multi-homer game of his career. Braun also had his 16th stolen base of the season.
Zach Greinke became the first player to make three consecutive starts since 1917, but he struggled in his five innings of work. Greinke allowed seven hits, six runs (five earned), walked two and struck out six.
Neil Walker, Pedro Alvarez and Andrew McCutchen all hit home runs for the Pirates.
Brewer catcher Martin Maldonado had a career high four hits and also stole the first base of his major league career.
The Brewers now trail the first place Pirates by seven games in the National League Central Division.
