Ralph ‘Skip’ Taylor Bolton

JANESVILLE— Ralph E. “Skip” Taylor Bolton, age 61, of Janesville, died Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville.

He was born in Tomah, Wisconsin on July 22, 1952, the son of Ralph and Mary Lou (Taylor) Bolton. Skip was raised by Walter and Jean Taylor in Oakdale, Wisconsin and was a 1970 graduate of Tomah High School. When living in that area, he worked on farms, drove over the road semi, and was a volunteer fireman. He was married to Mary Jo Bollig and that was the best 29 years of his life. Skip was a heavy equipment operator and retired member of Operating Engineers Local 139. He enjoyed driving heavy equipment (with his grandson) in the Janesville Labor Day Parade. He started his stock car driving at the Tomah-Sparta Speedway. He then drove late models from Tomah throughout Wisconsin and Rockford, Illinois. He loved deer hunting, playing Euchre, fishing and all sports, his favorites being the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. His greatest joy was being a Grandpa.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; 3 children: Bobbi Jo (Jeff) Grabow of Balaton, Minnesota, Natalie (Jeff) Lininger of Janesville and Nathan Bolton of Janesville; 4 grandchildren: Dalton, Jordan, Landon, and Paige. He is further survived by numerous siblings: Geraldine (Merle) Adams, Meredith Eisfeldt, Walter (Patricia) Taylor Jr., Don (Mary) Taylor, Robert (Patti) Taylor, Patricia (Harry) Smith, Richard (Lori) Taylor, Sherry (Steve) Gunder, Randy Schultz, Ronnie (Laura) Schultz, Sue Watts and Sherry (Rich) Schoenrock; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Marian Bollig; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Ralph Bolton and Mary Lou Schultz; his parents, Walter and Jean Taylor; 5 siblings: Terry and Larry Taylor, Betty Butterfuss, Jacqueline Carlisle and Laureen Laurenson; and brothers-in-law, Ken Eisfeldt and Robert Bollig.

A Celebration of Skip’s life will take place on Saturday, May 24, 2014, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the VFW Club in Janesville, Wisconsin. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, Janesville.
