Ralph L. Brandenburg, Sr.
SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Ralph Leon Brandenburg, Sr., age 72, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, May 12, 2017. Ralph was born in St. Ann, Ill., on Oct. 11, 1944, to Ralph and Viola (Dubea) Brandenburg. Following graduation from Tri County High School in Plainfield, Wis., Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served 20 years before retiring Sept. 1 1983. He married Judith L. Knapton in Marshall, Wis., on June 12, 1982.
Ralph enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He was a member of Sun Prairie United Methodist Church, a long-time member of Sun Prairie American Legion and a life-time member of VFW Post #9362 in Sun Prairie.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Judy; son Ralph (Terri) Brandenburg, Jr.; daughter, Tammi Deglman; grandson, Michael; granddaughter, Baylee, his pride and joy; brothers, Rick and Wayne Brandenburg; special friends, Edward and Lani Illgen and family; as well as many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wanda Cain; and a brother, Floyd Brandenburg.
Funeral services will be held at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jenny Arneson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Madison. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a “Last Salute” by the Sun Prairie American Legion and VFW at 6 p.m. Visitation will also be held again on Wednesday from noon until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
