R. DuWayne Gilbertson
MADISON-R. DuWayne Gilbertson, age 83, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at Oakwood Village.
He was born on Dec. 26, 1933, in Dodgeville, the son of the late Daniel and Irene (Thomas) Gilbertson. He graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1951, and Madison Business College in 1953. DuWayne then served two years in the U.S. Army, serving 1 ½ years of that time in the Comptroller’s Office at Camp Gifu, Japan. He married Joan Kvamme on Sept. 20, 1958.
DuWayne was an accountant for Webcrafters, Inc. for 47 years when he retired in 2002. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
DuWayne is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan; daughter and son-in-law Dr. Ellen and Tom DeVries; grandchildren, Peter and Sarah DeVries; sister and brother-in-law Myrna and Ed Spencer; sister-in-law, Twylah Gilbertson; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Kenneth.
Funeral services will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave, Madison, at 1:30 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, with the Rev. John Swanson and Chaplain Wayne Shannon presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday. A private burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens on Monday.
