Q, as it’s fondly called by barbecue aficionados, includes a multitude of meats and traditions. At Double S BBQ, it’s Texas style, which gravitates toward beef, especially brisket. Moist and tender, spiced and smoked, it comes chopped or sliced, by the plate or pound. This brisket is so good it doesn’t need a lick of sauce. Shon and Sarah Jones show off their Texas and Louisiana roots with specialties like cowboy pinto beans and homemade boudain—a Cajun pork and rice sausage. However, it’s maw maw’s buttermilk pie—smooth sweet custard in flaky pastry—that’s sure to put Cambridge on the culinary map.
