Pursuit leads to crash, power outage
Three men face charges in connection with crash
TOWN OF DUNKIRK, WIs. — The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said a car rammed into a power pole in the Town of Dunkirk Monday morning, causing a power outage.
The Sheriff’s Department said deputies initiated a traffic stop on a car listed as stolen at the corner of County Highway N and County Highway B in the Town of Pleasant Springs. Monona police had attempted to stop the same car earlier but eventually cut off the pursuit.
When deputies started the traffic stop, the car took off southbound down County Highway N until it left the road and hit the power pole at the corner of County Road N and Hogie Road. Three people inside the car took off on foot.
All three men were taken into custody following the crash after deputies established a perimeter and used a K9 to track them down.
It’s unclear how many people are without power in the Stoughton area because of the crash. People who lost power were expected to get it back by 8:30 a.m.
