Public input session scheduled for MPD chief selection
The Madison Police and Fire Commission will be holding a public listening session to get input from the public on the appointment of a new police chief, according to a release.
At the session residents are urged to comment regarding the needs of the city and the department, officials said.
The session will be Monday at 6 p.m. at the new Central Library location in downtown Madison.
Commissioners are developing a comprehensive plan and calendar for the chief selection process, according to the release. They expect to hear comment and consultations through Oct. 30.
Officials said they hope to appoint a new chief early in 2014 after interviewing, testing and evaluating potential applicants.
