MADISON, Wis. – Public Health Madison & Dane County is searching for a potentially rabid dog that bit a woman Wednesday night.

The incident occurred in the 3000 block of Furey Ave. between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.

The dog was reportedly unleashed and unaccompanied and bit a woman while she was trying to enter her home.

The dog is described as being about 60 lbs with short black or brown fur.

Officials said Saturday that, if the animal is not found, the woman may have to receive shots to prevent rabies.
