Buildings re-opening following gas leak on UW-Madison campus
MADISON, Wis. — Buildings are reopening on the UW-Madison campus following a Monday afternoon gas leak.
University officials sent out a WiscAlert via Twitter saying the gas leak was located near Observatory Drive between North Charter Street and Babcock Drive.
Crews have since turned off the gas and there is no longer a danger, according to a follow up alert.
Officials said they evacuated buildings impacted by the leak, but did not immediately say which buildings were affected. Evacuated buildings have since reopened.

UW-Madison police told News 3 Now the leak was caused by someone accidently hitting a pipe, but officers at the scene couldn’t provide any more information.
The public is asked to avoid the area.
