Protesters rally outside Paul Ryan’s Janesville office
Mitt Romney selects Paul Ryan for his running mate
JANESVILLE, Wis. — Opponents of U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan rallied outside his office Thursday in downtown Janesville.
Bearing signs, several dozens area residents have been holding weekly rallies outside Ryan’s constituents’ center for more than a year.
On Thursday they were joined by representatives of Planned Parenthood Advocates and People for the American Way.
Organizers said some of the community’s top concerns are jobs, Medicare and student loan debt.
They said Mitt Romney and Ryan’s policies are too extreme for America.
“Romney has chosen a man like himself who cares more about what right-wing millionaires and billionaires like the Koch brothers and Janesville’s own widow Hendricks say and do rather than his constituents’ lives,” said Scott Foval, of People for the American Way.
Some of the speakers included retired teachers and General Motors workers.
Those attending the rally said they will continue to rally outside Ryan’s office weekly until the presidential election in November.
