Proposal would give tablet, laptop to each student in MMSD
Upgrade would increase tech budget from $1.5 million to $7 million
MADISON, Wis. — Madison Metropolitan School District Superintendent Jen Cheatham said it’s time for the district to catch up when it comes to technology.
She’s proposing a massive plan to put a tablet or laptop computer in the hands of every student in the district.
District officials are looking at similar models that have worked and even a pilot program at Sandburg Elementary School in Madison.
“We’ve seen wonderful results in those classrooms, and I think that gave us a lot of insight into how to do this well and how technology can be used to enhance teaching and learning,” Cheatham said.
The upgrade would increase the technology budget in the district from about $1.5 million to $7 million a year by the 2018-2019 school year.
