Proposal to add residential neighborhood on site of Norsk Golf Bowl moves forward
Norsk Golf Bowl in Mount Horeb is looking to create a residential neighborhood on certain portions of its property, according to a release.
The areas under consideration for development are the company’s bowling alley, restaurant and bar, 50 acres in all, officials said.
The Mount Horeb Village Board voted to move forward and consider plans for the development at its Sept. 2 meeting. The review process will begin Sept. 23.
Though Norsk Golf Bowl plans to sell all its property and develop some of the land, the Village Board intends to preserve the golf course at least as an open space for the public to use, according to the release. An independent party is currently preparing a potential business plan for the course to be presented to the board at a later date.
Mount Horeb board members anticipate the deliberations to take months, if not years, and they are seeking “considerable public input” as a part of the process, the release said.
