Poynette area man, his dog killed in Columbia County crash
DEKORRA, Wis. — A man and his dog were killed in a crash in Columbia County Friday morning.
According to a news release from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of county highways CS and V in the town of Dekorra at 9:20 a.m.
The release said a driver in an Alliant Energy utility truck failed to stop at a stop sign on the highway and hit the side of a Chevrolet Impala as it was entering the intersection.
The driver in the Impala was a 66-year-old man from the Poynette area. Officials said the man and his dog, which was inside the vehicle with him, were both dead at the scene.
Deputies said Alliant Energy and the utility truck driver have been cooperative with the crash investigation. The Alliant Energy driver did not suffer any injuries.
Area roads were shut down for about three hours as a result of the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
