Portion of W. Washington Ave. to close this week for construction
MADISON, Wis. — A portion of West Washington Avenue near the Capitol Square is scheduled to be closed due to construction for the next two months.
The City of Madison says West Washington Avenue will be completely closed between Bedford Street and Bassett Street starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday. Eastbound traffic will also be closed between Bassett Street and Broom Street. Both closures are part of the ongoing reconstruction project on West Washington Avenue.
The city’s traffic engineering division says this phase of the project is expected to last until the end of September.
Bassett Street, which was closed as part of the project, will reopen this week.
The West Washington Avenue project is expected to be finished sometime in mid-November.
