Political newcomer squares off with Rep. Sensenbrenner
MADISON, Wis. — Democratic political newcomer Khary Penebaker is running against longtime Republican U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner to represent southeast Wisconsin’s 5th Congressional District.
Penebaker faces a steep battle against Sensenbrenner, who was first elected in 1978 and is the longest-serving member of Wisconsin’s congressional delegation. Sensenbrenner has easily won re-elections in his largely conservative district, which sits west of Milwaukee
In a statement, Penebaker says Congress is broken and won’t be fixed by an insider like Sensenbrenner.
Penebaker obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is the president of a roofing company. He’s emphasizing job creation, education and an outsider perspective in his campaign.
