Police: Woman steers into tree, suspected of 5th OWI
Woman also faces drug charges
MADISON, Wis. — A Fitchburg woman was arrested on suspicion of fifth offense operating while intoxicated and drug charges after driving into a tree Tuesday night, according to Madison police.
Officers were called to South Whitney Way and South Hill Drive at 8:18 p.m. for a report of a car striking a tree.
Witnesses told police the driver, Noelle M. Hart, 39, tried to walk away from the scene with a male passenger, but she stayed at the scene.
Hart told police she had one beer and had taken a Xanax pill. She also admitted to using heroin in the past, but not in recent weeks.
Police said they found needles in her car, along with other drug paraphernalia.
In addition to the OWI, Hart was arrested on suspicion of possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, third offense of operating a vehicle after suspension, failure to control a vehicle and operating without insurance.
