Police: Woman leaves her child with neighbor to go shoplifting
MADISON, Wis. — Police investigating a shoplifting report in a Woodman’s found the suspect had left her child alone at a neighbor’s home while she was shoplifting, according to officials.
The incident took place Friday morning at a Woodman’s supermarket on the west side of Madison.
The 35-year-old suspect told police she had left her 2-year-old child with a neighbor.
Police went to the address of the neighbor but nobody answered the door. Police then heard the child, and entered. The child was alone with a dirty diaper.
Child Protective Services has taken custody of the child.
The suspect is facing charges of child neglect.
