Police: Woman attacked with baseball bat in downtown Madison
Police said a good Samaritan attempted to help a woman who was being attacked with a baseball bat in downtown Madison early Tuesday.
Madison police said a concerned resident left his apartment and went to the aid of a woman who was being battered by a man in the 1200 block of Regent Street at about 12:17 a.m.
The 20-year-old man told police a man armed with a baseball bat struck the woman multiple times with his hands and the bat.
The woman was on the ground when the good Samaritan yelled at the attacker, according to the report. The beating stopped. The assailant ordered the woman to get into a large white SUV and he fled with her from the area.
Neither the man nor the victim has been identified, police said.
The attacker was described as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build, police said. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
