MADISON, Wis. — Madison police used pepper spray to break up a fight on State Street early Sunday morning.

According to an incident report, officers in the 500 block of State Street saw the fight break out just before 1 a.m. When police asked those involved to break it up, most of them did.

At least two suspects continued fighting, which Madison police said prompted officers to use pepper spray in an attempt to get them to stop.

Two suspects were taken into custody. Twenty-one-year-old Taylor Jansen was booked into the Dane County jail for tentative charges of battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The other suspect was given a misdemeanor citation and released at the scene.
