Police use pepper spray to break up large downtown disturbance
MADISON, Wis. — A large crowd was hit early Saturday morning with pepper spray after a disturbance broke out in downtown Madison, police said.
Madison police said officers were sent just before 1:30 a.m. to the 600 block of University Avenue for reports of a large disturbance, according to a release.
Officers observed a lot of pushing and shoving on the sidewalk with several people actively fighting in the middle of University Avenue, officials said.
Julius M. Jackson, 25, of Milwaukee, Capreace R. Salinas, 22, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Richard James IV, 23, of Madison, were arrested on tentative disorderly conduct charges.
