Police: Suspect arrested after crashing into home

Madison police officers tracked down a suspected hit-and-run driver on Friday.

Madison police said a car crashed into a home in the 4300 block of Doncaster Drive Friday night. The collision left behind a large hole in the siding. Officers followed scratches and grooves left in the asphalt by the rim of a flat tire.

Police said that evidence trail led to an apartment building in the 4500 block of Hammersley Road. Officers found a 2003 white Ford Crown Victoria with front-end damage in the building’s parking lot.

Officers questioned Harold Brown, the car’s owner. Police said the 30-year-old man denied driving the damaged car, but officers found his alibi was full of holes.

Brown was arrested on charges of vehicle owner’s liability for hit and run property, obstructing and a probation violation.

Police said Brown blew a .255 during an alcohol breath test at the Dane County Jail. Police said that test was administered nearly three hours after officers first discovered the crash.
