Police share bank robbery surveillance photos

Man fled on foot after robbing bank inside grocery store

A man robbed a bank inside a west side grocery store Wednesday evening, and Madison police are asking for the public’s help in tracking the robber down.

On Thursday morning, the Madison Police Department shared two surveillance photos officers said show the robber. Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain said detectives believe the robbery could be connected to a robbery Feb. 20 on Madison’s west side at the Associated Bank on McKee Road.

In the Wednesday bank robbery, police said a man entered the Associated Bank inside a Copps grocery store in the 600 block of South Whitney Way at 6:39 p.m.

Police said the man took off on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police described the robber as white, about 6 feet tall, weighing about 150 pounds. The man was last seen wearing a blue shirt, black pants and his face was covered with a tan scarf. Anyone with information related to the incident should call Madison police or Madison Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.
