Police: Senior citizen scammed by 2 men
Incident happened Monday
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison senior citizen told police two men scammed him on Monday.
The 78-year-old man told officers that two men showed up to his Dorsett Drive residence, talking fast about a deal to asphalt the man’s driveway.
The victim said he thought the men said they would complete the work for $300.
The victim told police the men asked for water and when he returned, the men were already spraying his driveway. When they finished, the pair told the victim the price would be $1,600.
When the victim objected, the men cited an elderly discount and lowered the price to $900.
The victim told police he gave the men close to that amount and they left.
The victim said the sales pitch came so quickly and he felt he did not have enough time to listen and refuse the offer.
