Police seek help identifying person of interest in Dec. shooting

Madison police asked the public’s help in identifying a man suspected to be involved in a shooting in downtown Madison in December.

Madison police said the violent crimes unit is seeking to identify a person of interest in a Dec. 21 shooting.

According to the news release, a 36-year-old man was walking on State Street at 2:06 a.m. when his group got into an argument with another group of people. A man whom he didn’t know pulled a gun and shot several rounds near the Buckeye Parking lot.

Police released two surveillance images Monday showing a man who appeared to be wearing a blue long-sleeved T-shirt, blue jeans and red shoes.

Police asked anyone who recognizes the man pictured to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
