Police search for armed robbery suspect in Town of Leon

The Monroe County Sheriff’s office is looking for a suspect involved in an armed robbery early Saturday morning.

Authorities responded to an armed robber around 3:00 a.m. at the Leon County Tavern in the Township of Leon.

Sheriff Scott Perkins said as a woman was closing up the tavern and heading outside to her vehicle, a man forced his way into the tavern, showed a semi-automatic pistol and demanded cash from the register and safe. After getting the money, Perkins said the male suspect took off and was seen getting into a waiting vehicle near the tavern.

Authorities describe the suspect as a white male, approximately 5′ 6″ tall with a stocky build and dark hair. The male suspect was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt and mask. He also had a black bag with a Milwaukee Brewers logo on it as he left the scene.
