Police say no clear suspect in fatal Beloit shooting

There is no clear suspect in a shooting Monday afternoon that killed a Beloit man and injured two others, police said.

Beloit police Capt. Dan Risse said Wednesday afternoon that police were still attempting to locate and speak with witnesses and participants in connection with the shooting that took place at the intersection of Randall Street and Porter Avenue.

Police also identified one of the people injured in the shooting as 20-year-old Arsheal Gill, of Beloit. Gill was involved in a physical altercation before to the shooting, but he was also injured in the incident.

“However the cause of Gill’s (injuries) has not yet been determined,” Risse said in a statement Wednesday.

Risse said a 17-year-old boy was also injured in the shooting but his name was not being released.

Risse said previously that the shooting was not believed to be a random act and it didn’t appear that the public was in danger.
