Police: Robbery arrest made after ID card discovered
Victim says robber dropped ID card
MADISON, Wis. — A 24-year-old Madison man told police he was attacked by a stranger who left behind a Wisconsin Department of Corrections ID card.
The Thursday robbery occurred at the corner of Williamson Street and South Brearly Street at 7:15 a.m.
The victim told police he was dragged into some bushes, and the robber dropped his ID while taking money from the victim’s wallet.
Using the ID card, police said they located a man matching the ID near the corner of East Washington Avenue and Ingersoll Street.
James S. Watts, 41, of Madison was arrested on suspicion of strong armed robbery.
