MADISON, Wis. — Madison police responded Tuesday morning to a string of overnight burglaries involving unlocked doors and open garages.

All three of the burglaries happened on Madison’s west side.

Authorities with the Madison Police Department said they first responded to the 9800 block of Shadow Wood Drive where a resident reported someone had entered their open garage and took their vehicle. The keys were inside the vehicle at time.

Another vehicle and valuables were taken from a residence in the 4200 block of Manitou Way overnight. The victim told police the suspects got into their home through an open garage door and unlocked house door.

Police also said a pair of vehicles were stolen from the garage of a residence in the 1900 block of Raptor Drive overnight, though they didn’t specify how the thieves were able to steal the vehicles. One of the vehicles was later recovered in a private parking lot on Madison’s west side.
