Police recover stolen bikes, ATV on Madison’s east side

MADISON, Wis. — Police officers recovered a number of stolen bicycles and an ATV near East Towne Mall in Madison Thursday morning.

In an incident report, the Madison Police Department said it and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department found the stolen items after searching tent encampments near Lien Road and East Springs Drive.

Among the items recovered were an ATV reported stolen from Sun Prairie two weeks ago and an electronic bike reported stolen from Florida. Those two alone are worth an estimated $3,000, police said.

Officers arrested a 42-year-old man and a 35-year-old man on outstanding burglary warrants and other related charges.

Police are now working to find the owners of the stolen items; some of the items have been returned.

UWPD said it has received six reports of stolen mopeds and a report of a stolen motorcycle around campus over the past few weeks.
