Police: Officers stop burglary in progress on Madison’s south side
A Cedar Street resident called police Friday morning when he saw a stranger head to the back of their neighbor’s house after knocking, according to a police report.
Responding officers arrived to see Brandon M. Hambrick, 18, of Madison, attempting to break one of the home’s windows with a brick, police said.
According to the report, Hambrick was out on bail and is already charged in Dane County Circuit Court for possessing a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property.
Hambrick told police that he was visiting a friend at the house, but officers later found that to be untrue, according to the report.
Hambrick was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, disorderly conduct and bail jumping.
