Police: Officer arrests man who was entering unlocked vehicles
Incident happened on city's far west side
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison police officer arrested a man who was spotted going into unlocked vehicles Wednesday night, the Madison Police Department said.
Police were called to the 7400 block of Whitacre Road on Madison’s far west side just before 10 p.m. after citizens reported seeing a man entering unlocked vehicles.
An officer parked his squad car and walked into the area with hopes of surprising the man.
The plan worked, and the officer watched as the man attempted to enter a van and then a car, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.
Witnesses told police the man had been inside at least one vehicle.
Police said John S. Mcky, 53, of Madison, was arrested on tentative charges of entry into locked vehicle and disorderly conduct.
