Police: Motorcyclist faces 4th OWI after striking car, attempting to run from scene
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man is facing charges after police said he was impaired when he struck a car on a downtown Madison road Friday.
Madison police said 24-year-old Sean M. Riemenapp was driving a motorcycle west on University Avenue at 1:55 a.m. when he ran a red light at North Lake Street.
Police said Riemenapp slammed into a car that was going south on Lake Street.
The motorcyclist was thrown about 15 feet, according to the report. He got up and started running, but University of Wisconsin-Madison officers detained him at West Dayton Street and North Charter Street.
Madison police later arrested Riemenapp on suspicion of fourth-offense operating while intoxicated, bail jumping and a probation violation.
The 25-year-old Monroe man driving the car was not injured, police said.
