Police: Mich. man travels to Janesville to sexually exploit girl

Janesville police said they arrested a Michigan man who traveled to Janesville on Monday morning for the purposes of having sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl he had been communicating with online.

Janesville police said they arrested Jerry John Osmolinski, of Belding, Mich., on several charges stemming from online communications Osmolinski was having with a 13-year-old Janesville girl.

Detective Steve Williams assumed the victim’s identity online, and Osmolinski continued the conversation for several months, believing he was communicating with the girl, according to a Janesville Police Department news release.

Police said Osmolinski traveled to Janesville Monday intending to have sex with her.

Osmolinski was taken into custody Monday at 222 N. Franklin St., where he believed the victim lived, police said.

Police said Osmolinski was arrested on charges of use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, sexual exploitation of a child, and exposing a child to harmful material or harmful descriptions or narrations.

Police said Osmolinski confessed and was held at the Rock County Jail.
