Police: Man swings knife at stranger in apartment building
Visitor avoids serious injury
MADISON, Wis. — Police said a man avoided serious injury Monday after a stranger swung a knife at him several times in a west Madison apartment building.
The Madison Police Department said a 47-year-old Madison man was visiting a relative on the 5800 block of Russett Road. At about 12:58 a.m. the man was in a common hallway of the building when 43-year-old Christopher James Lee Hill, of Madison, charged at him.
Police said Hill had been involved in a domestic disturbance with a woman who lives at the building. It was not known why Hill swung the knife at the man.
Police said the man grabbed Hill’s forearm to avoid being stabbed multiple times. The man pushed Hill to create distance so he could run outside and call 911.
Hill was arrested on suspicion of first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
