Police: Man smashes Starbucks window, blames Joan of Arc
Witnesses help police track down suspect
MADISON, Wis. — A man who’s suspected of throwing a 3-pound chunk of concrete through the window of a Starbucks on State Street said Joan of Arc made him do it, according to a release from Madison police.
Starbucks employees told police the man was asked to leave after he harassed other customers and created a disturbance inside the shop at 661 State St. at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. They said he yelled at employees and made vulgar comments as he was escorted out.
Police said the man, Martin J. Donagy, 40, went outside, picked up a piece of concrete and threw it through a front window. Two men outside witnessed the incident and watched him head to a nearby parking ramp where bystanders directed police to his location. He was arrested after a short foot chase.
The concrete and glass shards just missed customers inside the shop, according to police.
Donaghy was arrested on suspicion of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct, damage to property and resisting arrest.
