Police: Man pawns stolen bikes, cellphone

A man was arrested this week in connection with several stolen items he pawned in Madison, police said.

Madison police said 32-year-old Grahm T. Haferman was arrested Wednesday afternoon in connection with three downtown burglaries.

Police said someone broke into downtown residential parking garages in January. In two cases, bicycles were stolen; in the third case, a cellphone and other property were taken from a car.

According to the report, the bikes and the cellphone were quickly pawned, and burglary crimes unit detectives identified Haferman as the suspect in the thefts.

Police said Haferman denied committing the burglaries and claimed to be pawning items for a friend.

Haferman was arrested on suspicion of several counts of theft.

According to the report, Haferman is homeless.
