Police: Man hits elderly Walgreens customer before crashing into squad car
Officer taken to hospital with injuries
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man faces several charges after police say he hit a squad car after a disturbance on Madison’s southwest side Friday evening.
Police said officers were called to the Walgreens at 6601 McKee Road at 6:53 p.m. on a report of a disturbance. Officers found a man, later identified as Tyrone M. Nash, 19, of Madison, refusing to leave the store.
Police said Nash initially refused to leave the store and began damaging things in the store and hitting an elderly man. He eventually left the store, and was driving west on McKee Road when he failed to obey a traffic signal and struck a squad car, police said.
The officer was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, Lt. Anthony Bitterman said.
Police said Nash fled the scene but was arrested a short time later trying to force entry into a home. He faces charges of battery to elderly, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal damage to property and hit and run causing injury, police said.
