Police: Man fires gun into air on Madison’s north side

Police are still looking for a man who fired a gun into the air on Madison’s north side Tuesday evening.

The Madison Police Department said a man who was outside and mumbling loudly in the 1400 block of Trailsway at about 7 p.m. caught the attention of many people in the area, including children.

Witnesses told police the man paused as he walked down the street and said, “Ya’ll don’t know who you’re messing with, I’m from Mil,” which onlookers told officers they took to mean he’s from Milwaukee.

Police said the man reached into his waistband, pulled out a handgun and fired it into the air. A couple of teenagers picked up the spent shell casing and turned it over to responding officers.

Police said the man was not found. He was described as black, 5 feet 7 inches tall with a dark complexion and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a gold or silver design on the front.
