A robber fled with an undisclosed amount of money after brandishing a tire iron at an east side store Wednesday night, Madison police said.

Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Tobacco Outlet Plus at 3868 E. Washington Ave. around 7:45 p.m., according to a release.

The robber demanded money from two female clerks after removing something similar to a tire iron from his waistband, police said. The robber also grabbed one of the clerks and pushed her, but she was not injured.

The man, who fled east away from the store, is described as white and in his 30s. He was wearing a plaid jacket or hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a bandana covering his face.
