Police: Man beaten, robbed in downtown Madison

Madison police said a 20-year-old man was beaten and robbed by a group of men early Sunday morning in downtown Madison.

Police said the incident occurred about 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of College Court near the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

Police said the victim was walking home when he was approached by a man who asked if he had any money. When the victim turned around, he noticed four or five other men.

Police said the victim was chased by the group and tackled to the ground. The robbers took the victim’s wallet, keys, and phone, according to a Madison Police Department report.

The victim was kicked repeatedly and suffered head and facial injuries, police said.

The victim was medically treated and released.

Officers utilized a K-9 unit and attempted to track the robbers, but they were not located.
