Police looking for man who robbed Janesville convenience store

Man demands cash, flees gas station empty-handed

A man robbed a south side Janesville convenience store late Monday night, and police are looking for help in finding the person involved.

The incident happened just before 10 p.m. at the Francois Oil gas station in the 1000 block of South Jackson Street in Janesville.

According to police, a man entered the store and demanded all the money from the cash register, and told the clerk he wouldn’t hurt her if she cooperated.

The man left with an undisclosed amount of money and ran away on foot. He was last seen running south on Jerome Street from Delevan Drive, according to Janesville police.

Police said the suspect is described as approximately 5′ 10″ tall with a thin to medium build. Police said he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with “Wisconsin” written on the chest, black men’s sun glasses, a red bandanna-like cloth over his face, and olive or khaki knee-length shorts.
