Police look to connect 6 attempted burglaries
Glass broken; Nothing taken in each case
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police said they’re trying to connect numerous attempted burglaries at businesses early Tuesday morning.
Police were first called to an alarm at VFW Post 1318 at 133 E. Lakeside St. at 2 a.m. A short time later they were called to Cronometro bike shop, Nutzy Mutz & Crazy Cats, and Quintessence, all in the 300 block of West Lakeside Street.
A witness reported seeing a white man, in his 20’s, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with a goatee, walking in the area with something in his right hand. Police said he fled when spotted, and a car was heard starting up seconds later.
Twenty minutes later, police were called to the 1300 block of Williamson Street where a witness reported hearing breaking glass. Broken glass was found at Ha Long Bay and Lazy Jane’s Cafe’ and Bakery. A witness said two men were running from the area.
Police said windows or door glass were found shattered in each case, and some buildings were entered, but it does not appear anything was stolen. Officers said the burglar or burglars might have been spooked by alarms or witnesses.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.
