City of Milton police are warning residents about a rash of thefts from vehicles.

Police said the thefts are taking place at night, and thieves are exclusively targeting unlocked vehicles.

Police said the handgun is described as a black Springfield model XD, .45 caliber. The theft occurred sometime after 4 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities are encouraging everyone to secure their vehicles when unattended and to not leave anything valuable in vehicles.
