Police investigating shooting on or near Interstate 43 ramp in Milwaukee; road closed in area
MILWAUKEE — Traffic delays are being reported in downtown Milwaukee following a shooting on or near an offramp from Interstate 43 Monday night.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said a call came in just after 7:50 p.m. reporting a shooting on the southbound interstate on or near the ramp from Lapham Boulevard.
When deputies and Milwaukee police officers got to the scene, they found a 24-year-old man who had been shot multiple times. He was taken to a hospital; his condition was not immediately known, but the sheriff’s office said he was conscious and breathing when first responders took him to the hospital.
Southbound Interstate 43 is closed in the area, with drivers being diverted at National Avenue. Police are searching for at least one suspect.
