DEFOREST, Wis. — Officers investigating a child pornography possession tip in DeForest Thursday have a man in custody, though the man hasn’t formally been charged, police say.

The DeForest Police Department said in a news release Thursday afternoon that officers received a crime tip form the Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding possession of child pornography.

Officers searched a home in the area of Mohawk Trail and Old Indian Trail with a warrant in the early morning hours Thursday, according to police.

The 31-year-old suspect was inside the residence and was arrested without incident, police said.

Officials didn’t identify the suspect Thursday, saying that the man hasn’t yet formally charged.

Multiple counts of possession of child pornography have been referred against the man, police said. Additional information may be released about the suspect’s identity following a charging decision by the Dane County District Attorney’s Office, according to the release.

DeForest police re-routed residences during the search, according to the release.
